  • Barrow Road/Walnut Meadow – Miller Homes have now started work on the site, levelling the ground and laying out the access roads
  • South of High Street Site. Planning permission is currently being sought by Bloor Homes for 140 houses. VWHDC will be making a decision on the application in early March. The current plans can be seen at http://www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/java/support/Main.jsp?MODULE=ApplicationDetails&REF=P15/V2447/FUL
  • Manor Farm. It is expected that CALA – a house builder – will acquire the site in February/March
  • Halls Close proposed development. The application to build 28 houses at the rear of Halls Close was refused by VWHDC in February o the basis that this was not a site allocated by the Drayton Neighbourhood Plan
  • Sports Pitches and Pavilion. The D2020 working group (Rob Drury-Dryden, Colin Arnold. Nigel Porter) are taking advice from the Oxfordshire Playing Fields Association and will be devising a questionnaire for the village on its sports requirements, with a view to drawing up a final specification for an architect’s design, and applying for planning permission for the sports fields, pavilion and car park
  • Playgrounds. Designs for Barrow Road/Walnut Meadow has been agreed and proposals for South of High Street commented upon. The existing Lockway playground is to be refurbished this Spring
  • Traffic Calming. The 2nd Workshop to discuss the proposed traffic calming scheme was held on Saturday 20th February in the Drayton Village Hall. The version of the traffic calming scheme (which can be downloaded or read at: http://www.draytonvillage.co.uk/?page_id=698 under ‘Traffic and Transport’) will now be revised following comments at the workshop
  • School and Pre-School. A preferred site in the School grounds has now been agreed by the School, Pre-School and OCC and a replacement building is now being designed and costed. OCC are planning the expansion of the School for the extra children expected from the growth of the village
  • Tree planting. Mike Habermehl (who designed the Millennium Green) has been engaged by the Parish Council to design the tree planting scheme on Hilliat Fields. The working group on this project are Tom Shebbeare, Andrew Bax and David Perrow
  • Shop front appearance. It is an ambition of the D2020 NDP to improve the appearance of the shop frontages in Drayton. The Parish Council have asked the Post Office to include this in their current refurbishment plan for the village post office. Advice is also being sought on possible improvements to the ’Mace’ shop, including exterior design and parking – this is a long term project and will need some commercial funding.
