Minutes of the Drayton Parish Council Extraordinary Meeting

held on 5th February 2024 at 7:00pm in the Caudwell Day Centre

Present: Graham Webb (Vice-Chairperson), Patricia Athawes (Vice-Chairperson), Elaine Wade,

Not Present: Pervin Shahin, Adrian Cooke, Susan Harris.

In attendance: Anita James (Clerk), Christopher Price (Deputy Clerk), Jonathan Fowler (Programme Manager), Richard Wade (Chairperson, joined the meeting remotely).

Public: 5 members of the public were present.

Graham Webb assumed the chair.

19/2024 Apologies for Absence. Susan Harris.

20/2024 Declarations of Interest, Dispensations or Use of Delegated Powers. None.

21/2024 Public Participation.

Walnut Meadow / Miller Homes. A number of parishioners expressed concerns over the outstanding issues and problems on the Walnut Meadow development and reported on the recent flooding.

[Clerk’s note: The deluge that engulfed southern and central England in January 2024 was the worst winter downpour in almost 250 years, according to figures from the world’s longest-running weather station. The rainfall measured at the historic Radcliffe Meteorological Station at Oxford University in January was greater than for any winter month since daily recording began there in 1767, and three times the average amount.]

22/2024 Walnut Meadow Land Transfer. It was noted that the Walnut Meadow sports facility can not progress until the land has been transferred and the Parish Council is legally obliged to take ownership of the land. It was resolved to approve the transfer of the Walnut Meadow Sports Pitch Land, Footpath Land, Additional Parish Land and Equipped Play Space from Miller Homes to Drayton Parish Council for the sum of £1 (one pound).
