Parish Council – Covid-19 update 30 March 2020

Thank you to all the wonderful Drayton residents who have been in touch with the Parish Council to volunteer to help with our Community Support program during the current Covid-19 outbreak.  We very much appreciate your kind efforts.

We have already paired up volunteers with a significant number of residents who need help with shopping and prescription collections.

Of course we are all on tenterhooks to see to see what happens next. The Prime Minister has been clear that we can expect things to get worse before they get better and the Deputy Chief Medical Officer has said that it will be some time before things get back to normal. It seems likely therefore that we will get more calls for help, and so will need more volunteers (especially if existing volunteers fall sick!). Please contact us if you feel you can offer help.

We also need to reiterate that this scheme is aimed at helping those who are vulnerable because of their age, ill health or medical conditions which mean that they are self-isolating at home in line with government recommendations, and have no family nearby who can assist.  We do not wish to turn away anyone who needs help, but must prioritise the most needy.
